Gatcombe Festival of British Eventing

Thursday, August 14

It is my dear friend Emily's birthday next week, as an early birthday treat she requested we meet up and go to Gatcombe parks Festival of British Eventing. I have to say, being from a different county and all, that i didn't know too much about the event itself, but from what i gather, it's kind of like a three day event that has everything happening on each day. For instance, we enjoyed dressage, show jumping and cross country. We laughed and made faux bets on the Shetland pony grand national. We ate good food, and shopped for country clothes and best of all, we enjoyed Land Rover owner only privileges.

If you're thinking of going next year and you do own a Land rover, take it! You get to park right next to the entrance in the Land Rover only car park and enjoy free cups of tea, coffee and soft drinks, along with cakes and biscuit-y goodness in the Land Rover owner hospitality stations. (Have I made clear how impressed I was with this yet? Yes? good!)

I supplied the picnic and we ate on blankets at the back of the truck, skilfully managing to dodge downpours and hungry passers by. I managed to find a perfect birthday gift for my lovely lady, and liked it so much I bought one for myself too.
