Party Season Guide

Monday, December 17

Well it's that time of year again.
The shopping is nearly done, the house is full of twinkling lights and we are all planning what we are doing and where we are spending the big day.
The party season is well and truly in swing and that means one thing.. No not getting hammered on Shiraz and doing stupidly regrettable things with co-workers at the office Christmas party, oh no.
It means finding that perfect little dress that will see us through Christmas and into the New Year looking as glamorous as we possibly can while holding in, sucking up and generally hiding those few extra pounds that we are not only destined to gain but that are also kind of welcome since nobody cares about watching what they eat when there is that much food around. If you do then 1.Why? and 2. You have more willpower than i, or anyone else i know.
Anyway lets get started with a a few quick little ideas of whats out there so we can all avoid turning our closets inside out looking for that dress that you just know you had, only to find that it doesn't look as good as it did last time around.

Dress - Missguided
Shoes - Newlook
Clutch - Riverisland
Eyeliner - YSL

It would be wrong on so many levels for me not to include this little velvet number since this is the dress that i currently have being wrapped up waiting for me. I'm overly excited to get this baby on my body and feel the velvety goodness! What screams Christmas more than green velvet? Green. Velvet. People. The sexy neckline and long sleeves are a perfect balance of faulting what you've got but still keeping yourself a little bit warmer than the average night owl, and if your anything like me you wont have felt the cold on your legs for years, maybe due to such regular exposure deadening your nerves? Merry Christmas!
Finish it off with gold sparkling shoes and a clutch to match. A dramatic cat eye and nude lip and your good to go my little elf!

Dress - AX Paris
Purse - boohoo

What party season is complete without the little black dress, girls this dress is your friend. The sequins will instantly make you look slimmer and nip you in just in time for that extra round of mince pies! Pull the whole thing together with some red soles and a swipe of even redder lipstick. It's the ultimate in Christmas party attire so wear it with pride.

Dress - Nasty Gal
Shoes - Riverisland
Necklace - Topshop
Liner - Bobbi Brown

Ah the peplum. It's taken up a space in all of our hearts at some time or another, the little girly touch that hides a multitude of sins. I will always think that red is the ultimate christmas colour, so i couldn't not include this cleavage baring, peplum waisted beauty. Let the dress do the talking with simple black shoes and statement collar necklace and your sure to wow everyone in the room whatever size you are.

So there you go, just a little guide from MIB to get you started. Now if you excuse me i'm going to look out for the postman from my letter box...again.

Oh Christmas Tag, Oh Christmas Tag!

Thursday, December 13

Q. What's your favourite thing about Christmas?
A. Is Everything a bit of a cop out answer? Yes..well okay. I guess i love the anticipation, those last few days before Christmas are always so full of happiness, cheer and joy.. or if your like me they are also filled with lots of wine and catching up with old friends from far off places. That's the best thing about Christmas!

Q. What’s your favourite makeup look for the festive season?
A. Defiantly to go all out. Christmas has got to be the only day of the year when it's acceptable to wear 2 pairs of fake eyelashes, massive bouncy hair and still be in your pajamas!

Q. Real tree or fake tree?
A. Real. No shadow of a doubt. We usually have a real one in the family room and a fake one in the dining room. The smell of a real tree is half the joy of Christmas. Christmas Snob.

Q. Giving presents or receiving presents?
A. We would all like to say 'oh i just love to see people's faces when they open gift's, i don't care about getting them' but we would all be lying slightly! I do love to watch people enjoy what i get them, but i also love love to see my face when i get theirs too ;)

Q. Do you open your presents Christmas morning or evening?
A. We open everything under the tree in the morning, then relitives come throughout the day and bring more. Then in the evening i normally go to the boys house and open the one's from him and his family so we pace them out nicely.

Q. Handmade Christmas cards or bought?
A. I make my Christmas cards for special people, such as best friends, The Boy & my mum, people i know will keep them. Everyone else get's bought one's, but they are equally pretty and festive so nobody is left out.

Q. What’s your favourite Christmas film?
A. My favourite Christmas film is Home Alone. It brings back such lovely memories, but i also love Elf and could laugh for hours watching it!

Q. What’s your favourite Christmas food?
A. I love the massive Turkey dinner on Christmas day. That's my favourite food of the day, because Christmas wouldn't be the same without it!

A Little Christmas Dining Adventure

Monday, December 10

Christmas is getting so close i can almost smell the turkey roasting and the wine mulling.
Way back in June me & the boy were given a very generous gift voucher for a meal at The George Of Stamford Hotel. We drove past this magnificent stone building many times before but this was the first time we took to our smartest clothes and booked in for a meal.

Stanford is famous for it's stone built buildings and is such a beautiful old fashioned town. It holds many prestigious events throughout the year such as The Burghley Horse Trials, and this lovely restaurant is no stranger to the type of clientele who enjoy £100 bottles of champagne, waiters in the finest suits and dressing head to toe in no less than Ralph Lauren & Barbour.

The whole place was decorated down to the last detail with christmas cheer and sparkle. It's the perfect place to get you in the Holiday spirit. Trees covered in twinkling lights and cascading icicles, fire places hung with wreaths and candles, and even santa's boots popping out the bottom of the chimneys.

Now for the best part.. the food!

The boy had lobster, already cracked open to avoid any messiness and ready to be eaten.
I had Sirloin Beef with all the trimmings. The beef was brought over in a serving dish the size of our table, the suited and booted waiter asked how i would like my meat and opened up the huge oval trolley and cut me some slices, then lathered it in gravy.
It.Was.Delicious.

It would appear The Boy's photography skills wanted to resemble my head the next morning!
The wine was beautiful.

I'm never a massive sweet fan, i find my eyes being to big for my stomach usually have got the better of me by this time, but since it was a special evening i couldn't resist this chocolate log when the waitress sashayed over with the dessert trolley.
I would completely recommend if you are a chocolate fan, it was the perfect balance of  creamy chocolate heaven without being overly sickly.
The boy had chocolate profiteroles.

After you've been left fully stuffed and satisfied, make sure to visit the loo's for a little makeup touch up and to check you aren't covered in the remnants of your food binge.

Wooden beams, makeup desk, a chaise longue and murals on the walls make this one of the best bathrooms i have ever set foot in. I spent so long playing in here and looking at everything that The Boy started to wonder if i had gotten lost, i did but not the entire time! Boys apparently yours isn't as fancy, but then again it could be that The Boy didn't take notice.

After we had been lulled into a food coma and washed everything down with a tipple of Shiraz  we took to the crisp night air to stroll through the gorgeously decorated gardens.
I saw more Christmas trees on this one night than i have seen all year. There were rows and rows of twinkle lights in the darkness..

..we even spotted some deer. Okay they were made from wicker but they were still equally as special.

Of course i couldn't not get a quick snap of myself next to something dripping in ice..
Even if my camera does appear to be drunk by this point.
I'm wearing AA Disco Pants, Forever 21 Blazer, Louboutins, and Rebecca Minktoff Clutch.
The awkward pose is by Shiraz Red Wine and Models own!

If any of you are visiting Stanford i recommend stopping by, but do make a reservation if you want to eat, and get it in early!

Walks in the Winter

Wednesday, December 5

Some days there is nothing better than getting bundled up and taking a long walk with your favourite canine companion. Me & Grizzle like to get away from everyone else every now and again, him, sniffing leaves, running around in mud and chasing scents, me, strolling casually behind taking photos and enjoying the quiet.

He looks so proud and happy strolling off in front on his own. Just occasionally turning round to make sure i'm still behind him..

'What are you looking at mum?'

This was the most unplanned self photo ever but i thought it looked quite cool anyway.

'Mum will you hurry up we have alot of grown to sniff!'

 Muddy little paws.

I've finally booked me and the boy into a fancy restaurant in Stamford this weekend. We got a very generous joint birthday present in the form of a voucher so we thought we would wait until it would be decked out for the holidays until we took the offer up. At a bit of a push i've managed to get the last spot, go me and my reservation skills! Now i just need to figure out what to wear that will be in line with their dress code, yes we have a dress code for the evening, i feel like a duchess already!

On a weather note around Lincolnshire, It's freezing cold but apart from the odd bit of frost here and there we still have no snow to play in. In fact if i look out my window right now it's bright sunshine. I'm really hoping we have snow when i go on my Christmas break from work this year. Pretty please!
